The sod farms can be good
after rain in any season. The best time is spring thru the fall after a
rain. Many shorebird species, waders and Waterfowl could be present.
Yellow Headed Blackbirds and Bobolinks have been found there and across
the street in the spring.
The sod farms start at
Memorial and 56th Street North and go west from there. The best spot is
2.3 miles west of Mingo or 2 miles East of Hwy75 on the south side of
56th St North. There is a place to pull off on both sides of the road. A
wooded pond right on 56th street marks the westernmost point of the sod
farms.
GPS coordinates of the
best spot are N 36 degrees 14.113'and W095 degrees 54.524'. Elevation is
595 feet above sea level.
